BMW G650 Xcountry Scrambler

  at the edge
Back in the 'fifties and 'sixties of the last century, road-going motorcycles suitable for offroad use (maybe with a few judicious modifications) were called "scramblers". Today the BMW G650 Xcountry offers the same versatility, bringing together the best of two worlds: superb road manners combined with offroad ability more typical of an Enduro.

a bike built for exploring This is a bike that will be an excellent commuter during the week and great for exploring on weekends. A comfortable stepped seat, a dashboard "cockpit" with optional windshield and luggage options add to the versatility of the Scrambler. Tires are dual-purpose items equally suited to pavement or hard-packed dirt, rocks and stumps.

The G650 engine is a variant of the proven balance-shaft equipped single-cylinder F650 unit. Enhancements in the G engine make it even more responsive: lighter, faster-revving and more powerful. The optional 2-channel BMW Motorrad ABS system adds only 3.3 pounds of weight but adds immeasurably to rider safety and is switchable for offroad use.

Like the two other G-series bikes, the Xcountry is built using the best available components: a strong upside-down fork, rear shock with adjustable rebound damping as well as adjustable length to vary the bike's ride height, LED taillight, tapered aluminum handlebar and more.

STANDARD AND OPTIONAL EQUIPMENT

Brake hoses are teflon and braided stainless steel for better feel. The switchable 2-channel ABS (as seen on the R1200S) is a factory option. Passenger footrests and grab handles are standard.

Accesories for the Xcountry only add to its' versatility:
  • Titanium Sport muffler
  • Titanium exhaust pipes
  • Offroad headlight cover
  • Lower seat
  • Handlebar impact protector
  • Hand protectors
  • Windshield and mounts
  • Luggage rack
  • Tank bag
  • Topcase with baseplate
  • Inner bag for topcase
  • Service toolkit
  • Support for BMW Navigator

  No slouch on pavement.
